Even if you don’t own a bike or are visiting Denver – no worries. Just stop by one of the many bike share racks and rent one for the day.
So whatever your flavor of two-wheeled adventure, here’s a list of 5 great trails to get out there to have the ride of your life.
Cherry Creek Trail
A 40-mile paved trail beginning at the Platte River Trail in Confluence Park. It’s one of Denver’s most popular rides with hip murals, boutique shopping and more do and see along the way. You’ll pass historic parks, Four Mile House and Castlewood Canyon State Park
South Platte River Path
There’s no better path to get you where you’re going. This 20-mile path stretches from Thornton in the north to Englewood in the south and will connect you to many other trails.
One of Denver’s main cycling arteries, you’ll see a bit of everything cruising alongside the South Platte River, including the Denver Aquarium, Children’s Museum, Mile High Stadium, sewage treatment plants and the beautiful Centennial Gardens. But this route is about convenience over aesthetics.
Bear Creek Trail
Ride west out through the Bear Creek Greenbelt nature preserve on your way to the mountain town of Morrison, home of Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It’s a climb – about 600 ft – so get ready. But the beautiful nature and wildlife makes it an outdoor adventure.
Washington Park Loop
If you’re looking to stretch your legs and get some speed, the Washington Park Loop is the perfect ride to do it. There’s both pedestrian and bike traffic but the wide lanes will give you plenty of room as you pass by Smith Lake and Grasmere Lakes. Lots of greenery to see including tennis courts, the Washington Boathouse and the Big Garden.
Clear Creek Trail
A 20-mile ride along the bubblic Clear Creek Trail with bucolic views and ending up in Golden where you can catch a brew? What’s not to love.
